How is Transmedia evolving the way media is perceived? CIU 210.8

Up until recently, media groups have been focusing on getting their audiences to watch their live tv shows as its where the bulk off television advertising is and where they make the most money.

The definition of transmedia storytelling is where the story is told through several different types of media platforms that expand the range of ways to understand and explore the story being told. Transmedia is a pop-word which entails all the ways a product can be shared. Although only recently has this method been given the name transmedia, it has been around for a long time, Francises such as Star Wars, The Matrix, Doctor Who, and Pokèmon; have been using transmedia to evolve their brand for decades.

If we take Star Wars as an example of how transmedia has continued to keep a brand evolving and alive. Star Wars originated in 1977 with the release of A New Hope, the Star Wars franchise and brand is still alive today, this isn't only due to the release of the newer films (The Force Awakens/The Last Jedi) but the examples of Transmedia that has linked the films together, there have been Videos Games, TV Shows, Audiobooks, Animations, Books, and Novels that have further progressed the story of Star Wars through different versions of media.

Star Wars started from a film, another example could be Pokèmon, Pokèmon started of as a video game then acard game, before it became a tv show, the product follows the same timeline but in a different order and is at the same point with the products career as Star Wars even though its premise was smaller and its nation base was smaller than Star Wars.

In todays virtue era theres are new factors that make transmedia the new front-running game changer for how visual content is created. For example social tv shows (Big Brother/Love Island) have enhanced television, its made television More of a two way experience where the viewer can effect the shows turnout. Technology has also implemented and help the way that the viewer can be part of the show.

TV is the largest type of media in the transmedia revolution, there are a lot of interesting experimental ways that trans media can be enhanced and futursized. For example SyFy has a TV show coming out called Defiance where a story is told on TV and also in a video game, the story shares moments with the video game; much like Game of Thrones and Their telltale series on the PS4. Tell Tale are a video games company that worked with ABC's Game of Thrones, the audience want watch game of thrones and play the video games that shares the same events as the TV but from another characters point of view,
